DLT Labs Demystifies Initial Coin Offerings at CPA

DLT Labs’ Consulting Director of Blockchain Systems Analysis, Kenneth Carpenter, was invited to speak to the annual Conference for Controllers of The Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA) in Mississauga, Ontario this past March.

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario hosts an annual two-day learning opportunity targeted to aspiring and current controllers. The event is designed to provide delegates the opportunity to network, share ideas, and gain an update on the newest information, requirements, emerging procedures, and applications of controllership. This year, CPA wisely decided to include blockchain in the program.

As CPA’s partner in blockchain education for accountants, Carpenter represented DLT Labs and hosted a plenary session entitled ‘Demystifying Initial Coin Offerings.’ The talk aimed to provide context for Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) by exploring their history, use-cases, pros and cons, regulatory and accounting landscapes, and how DLT Labs is proactively preparing enterprises with and for ICOs.

“CPA Ontario has the highest standards for Professional Development and we commend them for being proactive in bringing the latest in technological advancements to their membership. We’re always honoured when asked to contribute our Distributed Ledger Technology expertise to their programs. Presenting to their Conference for Controllers was especially exciting, thanks to the newsworthiness and dynamic legal and technical environment surrounding Initial Coin Offerings,” said Carpenter. “Every day, more and more controllers need to understand the power of blockchain. I was thrilled to share perspectives based in DLT Labs’ extensive experience in this space, and to explore ICOs with CPA Ontario members in support of their 139-year mission to protect the public interest.”
